Houston news is still following tornado warning. It is going through downtown Houston. They are calling it a Destructive Thunderstorm, equal to a catagory 1 hurricanes with 80-100 mile an hour winds.
340,000 without power in Houston-so far.

Im sorry to hear all this @baymule. I like to jab my Houston SIL; telling her “im sorry you live in such a hostile environment” while discussing winter weather that many times is worse than ours!

up here; the national news is now saying 4 dead and a million without power. I truly am sorry; and praying about all this with you guys.

The winds even blew down electrical transmission towers, they are heaps of twisted metal. The Mayor is telling people to stay home.





Downtown skyscrapers had those shiny glass plates blown out. Glass litters the streets, damage everywhere. It looks like a war zone.

Not a hurricane, no tornado has been verified, it’s a Destructive Thunderstorm.

I cared for the animals this morning and changed clothes. @ninnymary i wore my “nice” overalls! I drove the mule to the paved road, then to the church where I parked my car. The pond on my road is deeper and wallowed out bigger, water up to the floorboard of the mule.

I went to Atwood’s grand opening! I specifically went for a new pair of knee high rubber boots. I have figured out how to stop the floods that ate plaguing Southeast Texas. My old rubber boots have holes in them. I thought they’d be ok for spring and summer. Morning dew, light rains, that sort of things. I’ve been changing socks 3 times a day, squishing around, icky.

So NEW BOOTS, prepared for the floods, and of course they will stop and go back to normal rains.

I got a bag of their brand dog food to see if my dogs like it. I got a $20 gift card for spending over $100. Also it was free cap day, so got a free Atwoods cap.

Went to Academy and got a couple of head covering mosquito nets. I cover up to go outside, but gnats attack my face. Around my eyes, ears, neck, covered with itchy bites.
Also got me a new pair of farm boots, old ones stitching is coming undone. Have to wear boots on the farm. No tennis shoes. Exposed ankles are a screaming invitation for every red bug and chigger for miles and the little devils crawl up my legs to elastic underwear lines to burrow in. Also itchy.

Then I treated myself to Outback Steak House, brought half home for tomorrow.

Took car back to church, transferred new stuff to the mule and came home. Took a nap. Enjoying lounging around in nice clean clothes. In a bit, I’ll put on grubby jeans, old tshirt, long sleeve denim shirt, NEW RUBBER BOOTS, my free Atwoods cap, mosquito head net and go scare the crap out of the dogs.

Grand opening lasts 2 more days. I can go tomorrow and get 4 bags of dog food and get another $20 gift card. Sunday I can go get lamb feed and get another $20 gift card.

My lounging in clean clothes sounds like it’s over. Physco Sentry is barking his frantic bark that says he’s got “something “. Probably another turtle, or nutria, or armadillo, who knows.

Now THAT was a great day!!

Is Atwood like Tractor Supply? Never heard of them lol. It's nice when you get something back and those gift cards will come in handy. Are your "nice" overalls pink? If not then they are just overalls haha.

Chambray blue color. Pink is not my color!

I put on my Atwoods cap and head mosquito net to do chores this evening. Gnats were lighting ob the net but couldn’t get in. Score!

And yes, the dogs barked their heads off at Monster Mom.

Since we're the only animals who put things on and take things off, I wonder what they must make of a hat. Something is eating your head mom!

I just woke up from an hour nap. Was up at 4:30 this morning. Was outside doing chores when a friend texted that he had a ewe with a prolapse. He was ready to shoot her and save the meat. He really didn’t know what to do, so I offered to come help. I went over there, 45 minutes away. We discussed processing her versus trying to save her. She is heavy bred, but in my estimation, still several weeks from birthing lambs. I didn’t think we could shoot, do a quick cesarean and have a chance at live lambs, it’s just too soon.

I’ve never tried to save a ewe with a uterine prolapse. But I told them if they wanted to try, I’d do my best.
Inspired by @SageHill and her vet wrap prolapse harness, we gave it a try. I washed off the lump of her uterus that was sticking out, rubbed with sugar and pushed it back in. Ewe immediately started pushing it back out. I kept pushing it in, got more sugar, more sugar and just sorta held what I had until she stopped pushing. The sugar is supposed to shrink the swollen uterus tissues.

We vet wrapped her. We went around her lengthwise, then around her body to hold the other wrapping in place. I was careful to leave enough of her “lady parts” exposed so she could pee. I told my friends I’ve never done this before, but we’d try. It might be a miserable failure, but it might work. Told them to order a prolapse harness ASAP. Even if a complete failure, they would have it for next time, if there is one.

Worst case scenario, she prolapses again and I go back over there to help them process her. She’s a 7 year old ewe, she had twin ewes last year. With all the stress she’s in, I don’t think the meat would be very good, but I’ll let them be the judge of that. They really want to try to save the lambs and I’ll do all I can to help them.

I left there, went to Atwoods, bought 7 bags of lamb grower and went to the church. I loaded everything in the mule and came home. I ate a peanut butter and honey sandwich and conked out. Trying to muster up the desire to go unload the mule and put the feed in barrels, then do evening chores. It’s 88F and 80% humidity. So far, I’m not finding any enthusiasm.
