Re: can I plant potatoes in July??

According to the pamphlet provided by my state extension service, I can plant potatoes as late as mid-July in my area.  You are in a different area, but I have some seed potatoes in the fridge that will go in the ground within a week.

All gardening is local.

If you don't list your area or growing zone so it appears under your screen name, it is hard to give you a good answer. (just sayin' big_smile)

I agree with you in principle, but the OP is in Texas Panhandle Zone 7.  It's in the body of his message.

Re: can I plant potatoes in July??

Since we never freeze here in San Diego I've toyed with the idea of trying them as a Winter crop but it's all but impossible to find certified blight free seed potatos that time of year and I don't want to risk infecting my ground.
