help identifying plant

I left this seedling grow this spring. I thought at first it was a cardinal flower. It DEFINITELY is not . It has these tiny, tiny flowers in clusters at the tips of the stems. It must be a wildflower, but  what is it?

Does the stem cling like velcro?

Re: help identifying plant

I notice the flowers are 4 petalled, like flowers in the Crucifer family group, the group that also includes Brassicas. If there is any aroma at all to a crushed stem similar to Cabbage, that'd put it in the Brassicaceae. If not, it could still be a Cruciferae.

I live in the woods at a lake in Northern California. My garden is in a smallish clearing. Calypso orchids are among the wildflowers here.

Re: help identifying plant

It looks a bit like savory but I don't think that's what it is. Savory has a leathery leaf with smooth edges. Could be a wild relative though.

Sorry, not either of those. This is driving me crazy! I usually am VERY good at id-ing plants.

Re: help identifying plant

How about the leaves at the base of the plant.

I am wondering if it is an Arabis or something related.

There are dozens & dozens of different kinds of cress . . .

No, it's not that. I checked it out.
