We have had Paris about 4 years. Paris is a Great Pyrenees and was given to us when she was 10 months old because she was killing chickens. It took over 2 years, but she turned around and became the best chicken guardian ever. Those chickens belong to Paris. The funny part is, she prefers my DH to me. Animals just naturally gravitate to me, for Paris to go nuts over BJ is touching. Today we sat out on the deck, watching chicken TV and I snapped these special pictures. I just had to share.

Aww, she's a sweetie. :love

Short sleeves, sunshine and flip-flops... You're making me want to move back to TX right about now! DH saw an AEP job posting for a supervisor position at a plant in TX the other day and I told him don't be silly...I'm not moving. But that was before this freezing/snowy spell set in. :p

Dogs do love. My wife brought her puppy home 3 years ago. He follows me everywhere. He loves to play rough and she doesn't. Wonder who taught him that?

How does he handle the heat?

Pyrenees are known for their guardian skills. Wonderful that you were able to awaken that natural talent. My husband also got a dog to be "His", the one in my profile pic. Hubby might own him, but I do everything else with him!

Awwwwww Bay, those are adorable pictures!!

Yes, "my" lapdog, Charlie the llaso apso was adopted almost a year ago. Took him about a month to decide the Loooooooooooooved my husband. Its hilarious, he just sits and stares adoringly at DH. Oh, and it is REALLY funny when we take all 3 dogs on a walk around town...and Charlie decided that he's DONE with walking, and wants to be carried home by DH.

I have posted on BYH a thread about Paris.

Seedcorn, Paris holes up under the deck in the summer. I water it down in the evenings so it will be cool for the next day. She is nocturnal, REAL nocturnal in the summer. She barks at what she perceives to be threats to HER yard, HER chickens, HER people, things such as people who walk down the street, the neighbors that dare walk around in their own yard, falling acorns......... She is an awesome dog. Love her, barking and all.

What you don't let her in the air conditioning?????? My wife's dog hates heat-so lives in air; hates cold-so lives in heat. Not sure what his excuses are for spring/fall--oh year, doesn't like to get his feet wet, or flies. 89# of pure sissy baby dog.......

I'm afraid of dogs but a woman who rescues pyrnees told me to get a spayed adult female. I did and she was the best! She didn't bark or make sudden moves to startle me. They found her in the delta and thought she might have been a sheep herding dog. I only had her for 3 yrs and then had to be put down. I actually cried when it happened and couldn't stand to be in the room with her when it happened. :hit
