Can anyone identify this tree from the blooms? I keep seeing these along the road here in southern Virginia and they are beautiful right now! We found a couple on the edge of some of our woods and I would love to have more. One of ours is a lighter pinky purple and the other is a deeper purple color.

Eastern redbud, one of the prettiest springtime sights you'll see here in these hilly eastern states, especially when the wild dogwoods are blooming right along side them. You can dig them up and they make a nice landscape tree for your yard too. You can prune the young ones to attain an open, graceful, vase-like trunk shape. I love them. :)

Definitely Redbuds. We have them everywhere, they make beautiful lawn trees. They don't get too big, as in giant-oak-falls-on-your-house-big. They make a nice addition to your yard or flower garden. If given room, they shape up nicely, never overpower your space, give shade and beauty for the eye.

My sister landscaped her entire street with Redbud volunteers from her trees.
She asked permission first. Now, 20 something years later the parking strips up and down her street are beautiful.

She brought me one, and it survived the first winter, which was a hard one, but the next winter, another tough one it succumbed. :(

How wonderful, thistle! I would like to live on that street! I have a few planted, and they are not dead, they are getting tall and full- but I have never had flowers....
