Nyboy, I don't really use herbs for bbqing. Perhaps you could think of what herbs you use in your cooking and plant those?

We need @majorcatfish & @MontyJ - I'm sure no sub . . .

I'd like to do a little bbq'ing with garlic scapes. Maybe chives and scallions. Basil is nice to have around.

If you can move the barrel during the winter: rosemary! Some people like it especially with chicken but it's best with beef ;). What do we do with it bbq'ing - soak it is water, lay it directly on the grill and put the meat on top?

You can do that with sage and thyme! And, parsley goes with anything, right?

Rosemary and thyme for sure, especially for steak and chicken. Lemon basil is good with fish. Garlic scapes are good with anything! If you're going to use fresh rosemary on the grill, be sure to have a way to chop it up.

I have a very large rosemary that often can afford to have some branches trimmed from it. What I've done a few times while I slow cook chicken on my weber is to cut some of the branches and simply place them near the chicken. It works well to infuse a little bit of the rosemary flavor into the meat. Another herb I love to use on chicken is lemon thyme, but that one I simply cut up an use as a rub.
