What did YOU do in your garden today :P

I planted the some of my corn, and tomato transplants. I know I said a few weeks ago I was going to post something, but the weather, and projects (that aren't fun ) delayed it. But I have the pictures now. This is the second garden me and my neighbor have been working on putting in. It is in the foundation of an old horse barn. It is approximately 20 by 30 feet.
All the soil contained in it is my compost (chicken, sheep, goat, manure, pine bedding, hay, and straw from the livestock shelters/coops grass clippings, and leaf matter)

My side, the closer side in the pictures, my neighbor has the big side and all of the potted stuff.

Cucumbers (front) pumpkins, and gourds (middle) watermelon, and cantaloupe (back) I have limited space so they will all be trellised.

The peas are thriving. I love this variety they are the only peas I like plain, and they only grow 3 to 3 and a half feet. I also love how pretty the pea blooms look.



The neighbors massive rose. You can't really tell how big it is, but it is HUGE. The color came out wrong as well. It is actually a very deep red.


And my rose that I have worked desperately, and thankfully successfully to bring back from a scrawny choked out hacked up twisted mess to a lush full-ish bush. I can't wait till next year, it should look gorgeous.


The pigment came out wrong in the pictures again there must a finger print on the lens again They are actually a dark red.

Wow Wishin, you have been working hard. Everything looks so neat and clean. Are the gallon milk jugs filled with water to keep things warm? Do you spread mulch over that black plastic? Just wondering.

I ran out of staples to hold the fabric down, so I temporarily used the water jugs. I got, and put in the staples yesterday I think I will line the jugs up neatly at one end so that I won't have to constantly drag three hoses out to the garden.
I will not be putting mulch down.

The work isn't done though. I need to get t-posts to make the trellises, and I need to plant the rest of the tomatoes and corn tomorrow. I also need to set up and paint my raised potato beds tomorrow. I finally found some one who has O.K ish started strawberries. I will only get a dozen or so, and just order the dreaded bare roots in September. I am still looking for the varieties of blueberries I wanted, I can't seem to find them locally and I think I will just wait and order them next year.

I am defiantly looking forward to next year, when I will start on time and order exactly what I want, and fine tune all the little things I have discovered and the things I have rediscovered. I already have a list of exactly what I want to get next year, ideal varieties and where I will plant them. Things should go smoother because I have planned thing out better instead of just jumping in.

All I can say is WOW...... That is a LOT of work.

That looks fantastic @Wishin' When the garden comes in, you'll have lots of goodies to eat!

I've been working on getting the garden tilled for the past few days after school, chores, and 4H meetings - finally got it done today! I do have a separate, small strip of ground way over to the left of the picture to finish.

EDIT: You can see that small strip of ground in the bottom picture, right next to the grape vines.



There's not much in there yet, except for peas and radishes. I forgot to get pictures of the radishes, they're still quite small so probably wouldn't show well anyway. Here's some pea pictures, most are only an inch or two tall.



These two have a pinkish tinge on the stems and leaves edges.



And the whole row(s). They had a rough start, it's been pretty dry here lately - which is very unusual for the area during this time of year.

Filled 2 compost bins, weeded the strawberries, put rabbit manure around all of them and put compost on top, and then straw on top of that and watered. Watered all the onions I planted yesterday, put rabbit manure around all the kale and cabbage, planted about 60 more onions.

That looks like a lot of work, and a LOT more weeding Seed.
How do you manage.

Like @mary, I think you have a huge, beautiful garden. However, I know now much is involved in caring for a huge gardening space so I am NOT jealous! I can't envy that much work.
