I have a magnolia tree I planted about 15 years ago. It started flowering in spring about 7 years ago. It flowered this spring like always, but now its flowering again. It has never done this before, I grew up with a large magnolia that never reflowered in summer. The tree looks very healthy, with lots of new growth. I hope my tree isn't dieing and trying to set seed before it passes. Has anyone seen a magnolia reflower in summer?

I read somewhere growers give the trees hormones (sp) to make them flower early. People are more likely to buy a tree if ts in flower. Thats why you might buy a tree that has flowers, but when you planted it , doesn't flower for several years .

When a plant is transplanted to a new location , it tries to adapt to the new environment and sends energy to it's roots first, then to the leaves and branches before it does so to flower production.
