Bay, are you peeling the leaves off, one by one? Because that's what I had to do. I couldn't pull the whole thing out!

Apparently because I am not a genius, LOL.

How to cut a bunch of grapes, cherry tomatoes, etc. in half in just a couple of seconds!

Cumulatively speaking, I have wasted at least a few hours of my life cutting up grapes for toddlers...

Well, that sure takes the fun out of cutting slippery little things with a sharp knife. :D There is a gadget for halving grapes and tomatoes, but they have to fit in the tube. I'm not sure if that works so well, but if DH knew about it, we would have one.

Another nifty tip for cutting up food for toddlers, try a pizza cutter (wheel type)... especially for things like pancakes, waffles, french toast, grilled cheese or anything else you can run over with a pizza cutter. It was a priceless gadget when I was cooking for 4-6 toddlers!

NO FREAKING WAY!!! Now I want to know how restaurants cube tomatoes into little squares. I am not usually a fan of cubed veggies but I like the cubed tomatoes.

By cutting the tip off, it exposes the silks in a cross section. It is then easy to grasp the shucks and silks in fingers and pull off entire sections of layers in strips. You're gonna have to get some more corn on the cob to try this!

Apparently you've never fed a toddler NYboy!

It is best if feeding to toddlers that anything round -- grapes, hotdogs, cherry tomatoes, etc. should be cut in half to keep them from becoming stuck and obstructing their breathing. Choking is a big problem with little ones.

Same thing @thistlebloom said, but the teacher in me was screaming,"Tell him the reason!" There, I'm back in gardener mode.

When I was a teenager I worked as a Tech at a animal hospital. One of the Drs who came from a old money family was in car accident. She was recovering at her parents house, all of us techs went to visit her. During the visit the mother asked the maid to please bring in some refreshments for the guests. A large tray filled with grapes and tiny scissors was bought in. None of us had any idea why there where scissors on the tray. I finally got up the nerve to ask, and was told you use the scissors to snipe the grape from cluster. Come on how hard is it to pull a grape off!

Hum-m-m, I use kitchen shears to the grape cluster into 'serving' sizes, but I've never given a thought to cutting individual grapes off. That just makes another mess of tiny stems -- or are you expected to eat the stem?

I've found that cutting the grape segments makes it easier for grandchildren to judge portion size.

Haha! Us uncultured ruffians just pull the grapes off with our fingers! Horrors!
