I know what you mean about seeds Lyndsay. I'm not that good with them either. Since my garden is so small, I just buy starts from the nursery. One of these days though, I'd like to try them. I'm just looking for a space in my house where I can put up grow lights.

That's what I did the year before. Although that year wasn't great for tomatoes I had a nice small garden. My first attempt with seedlings I over watered and they either got to much heat in april or not enough. I think I will invest in some heating pads for next year. That is what I want to do next is do an indoor garden once I have somemore rm . Maybe in my basement

Welcome to TEG, @Lindsay! So pleased that you found this great site -- great gang of gardening friends -- and I hope you enjoy yourself here.

I start all my seeds in a 4-tier mini-greenhouse (it's 2'l x 4'w x 4'h) sold at most home improvement centers. I added four sets of florescent lights for both heat and light, zip it shut, and keep it in my basement until hardening off outside. Not expensive or elaborate, but good for my needs. It might be something you'd like to try.

Welcome @Lyndsay from east Texas! If you say something to a specific person on the forum, put @ in front of their name and a list of names pops up. You just click on the one you mean, then that person gets notification when they log on the site that directs them to the post. It is a great tool to use. You just got notification that I used the @ to call you to this post. Isn't that just too cool?

I hope you have better luck with your garden, this is the right place to come to for help and encouragement! We will cheer for your success and commiserate with your failures and probably post pictures of our own failures, just so you don't feel so bad about your own. The old misery loves company thing. LOL

WELCOME!!!

@Smart Red I was actually thinking about building something like that out of pallets thx For the tip!! Stupid question maybe but lol how long should I let them grow for until they established enough to put in the garden? Someone told me there is a golden rule: don't plant anything until the end of may usually memorial/victoria day

@baymule ooh this is sooo much easier lol Thank you! One thing I learned from my attempts of starting from seed is how to water properly. But this is only my 2nd yr with a green thumb before I'd kill every plant even lavender!! Lol
