@Smart Red I was actually thinking about building something like that out of pallets thx For the tip!! Stupid question maybe but lol how long should I let them grow for until they established enough to put in the garden? Someone told me there is a golden rule: don't plant anything until the end of may usually memorial/victoria day

Technically, I can plant outside after May 15th -- our last expected frost date -- if I am careful to watch for a late frost. It is normal for me to plant the tender veggies in my garden Memorial Day/Victoria Day weekend, just as you have been told.

The seed packets each have a suggested planting time -- for example tomatoes say "6-8 weeks before the last frost date". I just count backward from May 15th to get 8 weeks early and start my seed.

I probably did visit every place my grandparents lived, Lyndsay. My 1st memories are about my grandmother's California home and garden. I grew up only a few miles from where they had lived in southern Oregon.

I lived for a time in the California town where 1 of Mom's sisters had been born. They had a restaurant there but no one in the family knew where it was. G'parents had already passed by then.

I almost know where they lived here before moving south in the 1920's. Palouse is still right against that border (nobody has moved town/border ;)). Only 3 roads lead into Idaho ...
