That dry mixture of animals, dirt, and hay. I'm not sure if that has a name. I call it "Ranch Dust." If hard work had a smell, that would be it.

@ninnymary, just post your dream on FreeCycle or some such site. I'm sure someone will take pity on you and offer their horses for a good long sniff.Ok, I really have to go smell a horse.

YES! And ... fresh mown hay ... the cow/hay barn ... the corn field on a hot humid day ... the gravel road after a rain ... fresh plowed dirt ...

You know, I even like the way chickens smell. Not wet chicken poo, but a dry chicken, particularly in clean straw.
