Yesterday evening we watched Mr. and Mrs. Mockingbird feeding their third batch of babies. They have built two nests in the crepe myrtle tree and are fledging their third nestlings now. The dogs snuffled around, finding the babies nestled in the garden, while the parents screamed warnings at them. We called the dogs to us and enjoyed the mockingbirds.

Mockingbirds are my favorite. They really know how to put on a show!

I am brain dead from dealing with the lender on our house loan. I get emails of 49 pages to read, e sign and send back, followed by demands for bank statements, tax returns, proof of income, (usual stuff) bids for repair work by licensed plumbers/electricians, copies of every document we have generated in the last umpteen years, our secret handshake and the password to it, our dog's name, age and weight, what insurance company (not to be rude, but isn't that already on one of these pages you just sent me to esign?) 27 more pages to replace the 27 previous pages because I re-negotiated our interest rate, to print, read, sign and fax back..........

So today my simple pleasure is to talk with my friends on TEG and do nothing. I did unload the dishwasher and take the dirty dishes out of the sink..... My simple pleasure right now is to kick back in my recliner and post pictures of my tractor on the How Do You Water A Big Garden thread I started....... Even the dogs aren't interested in doing anything, they're sprawled out soundly sleeping. It's a lazy afternoon..... I need some more iced tea....

Bay, Welcome to the "NEW and improved bank loan application " process , imposed by the current liberal administration to streamline the loan process ( ???) . We have purchased 6 previous properties ( only 2 have been existing homes, the others I have built myself on land that we purchased ). This current 7th home is BY FAR THE WORST bank loan shakedown experience that we have ever gone through. As an example : I receive SS retirement and they even had me go to the SS Administration to get a letter on their letterhead stating that I will receive the retirement checks for life. Certified and notorised statement from our Bank with their letterhead stating that we had enough funds to close the escrow. Not to mention State and Federal Tax Returns for the past 3 years in addition to all of the other items that you mentioned and then some more ( silly and / or irrelevant items that we have never had to provide before) then once again to verify that the items were not changed in some way. Then it took us 3 hours to sign all the documents shoved in front of us ( about 2" thick ) at the title company. :barnie

Yes, bobm and baymule. I remember our first property was about two pages of application and loan and a handshake. Now there are reams of paper to read and sign.

What are some of life's simple pleasures that you enjoy? Share them with us!

This evening DH and I had date night. We went out to eat and to a movie. While waiting for the movie to start, we walked around the mall. Getting bored, we sat on a bench and watched people walk by. The bench had a vinyl covered padded seat and when we moved the slightest, it made a fart sound. This immediately entranced DH and he perfected scooting on the bench to make a loud, long bubbly fart sound. Then we waited......

As people walked by, DH wiggled his bottom and it sounded like he really cut one. It was hilarious. Our simple pleasure tonight was the absolute look of horror on passers by faces who were probably sure that at least one of those two white haired old people just pooped their pants. They quickened their step so the smell wouldn't catch up with them.

I bet y'all thought I was gonna say something like watching the sunset or something like that, didn't you?

So many simple pleasures... (Does that mean I am Simple?) One of my favorite is when a Grandson 1st sees me and comes running with a big hug and kisses or their snuggles and hugs before bedtime.

I LOVE dusk and dawn. And in between. I get really caught up in the life dramas of all the creatures around here. Even the insects. Today I had this butterfly land on me & stay, so I got the camera & took some close-up pics. SO fascinating!

Put your mind to Christmas ahead for a little while. All the work will be done the tree in place the kids opening presents.... Then go back to the drudgery. It will be over soon and you can plant enough gardens so that you will have not time to write to us.
