The Tomatoes I Planted This Year And My Opinion Of Them...

Hmm, after doing some checking, I think I also have a Black Krim in my Mystery Heirloom row. I LOVE this!

Bobbi-j, I have lost the plant tags also.

I've hit them with the rototiller or stepped on them when they have been too far from the plant. They are kept close now and I sometimes don't know what the variety is until the first frost!

This year, I've had to identify a few thru the process of elimination but there are still several that haven't ripened any fruit. My list is slightly off but it's here: LINK.

I found my first ripe tomato today. Then I found that it was rotted on the bottom. Shucks! Still not a taste of tomato yet this year. Some are pretty close to coloring, so there is still hope.

When you figure out which ones are the Mortgage Lifter I will bet you LOVE them. Here is the 1st of ours.

Carol Dee, you almost have me drooling on my keyboard! I can't wait for them to ripen - they look delicious!

That looks like a near perfect tomato: small seed cavities; large size ; now if it tastes anywhere as good as it looks. . .

I think if @Smart Red had planted Bloody Butchers, she would have some ripe tomatoes right now! Oh, they are real small but that means I can get some of them in my mouth in a single bite.

What I like about them most is that they bring what seems to me to be a beefsteak flavor to an early tomato harvest. The plants have always stayed healthy and keep right on until frost.

I was looking at the list and realizing that I don't know where Thessaloniki, Ildi, and Isis Candy are! ... I planted neither Kellogg's Breakfast nor Dr. Carolyn this year but Coyote replaces the Dr., at least in color and the red KB that is obviously a cross has lots of fruits ripening and tantalizing me as to which plant should be the parent of the 2015 generation!

Coyote is serious competition in the sweetness category for the hybrid cherries. It is really quite different but sweet, sweet!

Casey's Pure Yellow, another that I started late, is sure ripening later than previous years but it's coming along!

Hal, I have a Health Kick that's almost ripe. I'm going to make a point of taste testing it just for you! I'll let you know what I think.

Journey get yourself a good seed source for Amish Paste then save your own seeds when you find a good one. I've had it grow through blazing hot summers and even had self sown plants surviving frosts and fruiting in an open field during winter. It makes a good sandwich tomato and a good paste tomato so it is a perfect tomato for me.

Yeah, I got mine in a swap. These were pithy throughout and hard as rocks. Everything else in that patch did well. No good reason for it otherwise. I will try again with a reputable source for seed.
