So far, one is crowing and is a mean little bugger. The other is either scared of his brother or simply a laid back sort of fella.
If I didn't already have 1 adult roo and 3 'teens' in the coop, I'd be happy to keep one and see what sorts of chicks I end up with next spring. As it is, I'm short on room.
Sure you don't want a cute little brown/gold barred roo who should pass along some lovely blue egg genes??

Going to pick her up Sunday afternoon. So excited. I'll be keeping the lighter, more laid back roo and hoping for a hatch in the spring that will give me a few blue-egg-laying girls for next year. YEAH!!!!!!!

The boy in the back gets a girlfriend.
The boy on the left gets a trip to freezer camp. (pecked me so hard yesterday he raised a blood blister - little booger!)

Yes, I was hoping to find homes for both of them - since I have 4 other roos already and the only reason I got these 'chicks' was to get the blue eggs... which neither of these boys are going to produce. LOL
I found out with my first flock that you can't 'fix' a mean roo. So, if I'm hoping to get a hatch or two of pure legbars, I'd be making a big mistake to keep the aggressive one of the two. Hopefully (counting chicks before there's even eggs) by keeping the nicer fella I'll have a better chance of ending up whit sweet natured birds.

That's so exciting! You will get blue eggs!!! If you have brown egg layers, give your blue roo some brown eggers and the result will be olive eggers! There is a whole thread on BYC all about breeding for olive eggers.
