Bay You are so right I tip them very well at christmas and never have a problem. A friend of mine once complained to me about his garbagemen. I said how much do you give them at Christmas, nothing, so all year they make him pay.

Good advice Bay. Everybody wants, needs and appreciates recognition for their work.
I'm my garbage man, so I think I should stop at the market today and get me a big ol' box of Fat Boys. Yeah. That sounds good.:D

Another job that gets little hero worship is the septic tank pumper guy.
When our old houses septic had to be certified to refinance, I stood and chatted to the man doing the clean out. He was surprised that I would hang around. I didn't think to tip him,
in those days we counted every nickel and there wasn't a lot of slack. But I did let him know that I appreciated his work, and I hope that made his day a little better.

For the last 2 years now, our early morning newspaper delivery man has included a very cheap Christmas card inside the newspaper together with a self addressed envelope with no postage stamp and expecting a tip in his mail. Just W H Y do I have to tip every Tom, Dick, and Harry out there for doing their job when my wife ,sons, daughter, cousins, neighbors ,etc. ( that I know of), nor I have EVER received a tip, ( well sort of... bet on the nag) hmmmm ??? :hu

My neighbor and I occasionaly leave a gatorade on top of our trash cans throughout the year. We have a very nice guy and all the neighbors love him. Once my husband was chatting with him and told him he wanted to get rid of a piece of exercise equipment. He said just lay it out by the side of your house and I'll take it. He has also taken stuff from us that was too big for the can but he managed to get it into his garbage truck.
