baymule, sounds like if we didn't have the same mama they at least knew each other really well, lol. have you ever roasted brussel sprouts in the oven. if they are big i cut them in half or leave them whole if their small, drizzle a little evoo over them, sprinkle with some salt, pepper and garlic and cook at 400 degrees about 35-45 min until toasty. really good that way. also can put them in a skillet, i use a big cast iron, put some butter and evoo in with what ever seasonings you want and cook in the browned butter sauce. a lot of times i'll throw in broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and b. sprouts and roast together, yum. keep trying, there has to be some way to cook them you'd like.

@goatgurl I just can't see working so hard to grow and cook something I don't like, or would have to work hard to try to like. I tried, I grew them, I grilled them in an iron skillet, seasoned 'em up and BLECH!! I yanked them up-the chickens liked them really good!

My mom fried pound steak until you could strap it to the bottom of your shoe and wear it for months! HARD! I never knew steak came any other way other than chicken fried-fried DEAD-until I left home. WHAAAAT?? Grilled, juicy, medium rare steak? Oh, count ME in!! LOL

Vegetables that aren't mush? Oh, now we're talking! I wouldn't let my mom teach me how to cook, she was so awful at it, I didn't want to know what she did to food.:lol::lol:

Bay, you just described my mom too ! Growing up and after she married , she never cooked, her maid did. Then a WW scuffle came about and she had to learn to cook or starve as my parents left pronto with only their clothes on their backs on horseback into a forest dodging bullets and bombs all the way , but never did accomplish the mastery of it. So, I married a gal who is a GREAT COOK . :celebrate Also, some of my wife's skills must have rubbed off on me as I waded in on helping her prepare sumptuous meals. :drool

the key to a good sprout is to make sure it has had a couple good frosts before they are picked, can understand @baymule you would have that disadvantage living in northern mexico<texas>.....
this christmas pack hubby and the dogs head up here and have a majorcatfish dinner spread.

ok @baymule, if you won't make me eat cooked turnips i won't make you eat brussel sprouts, deal? and yup on the steak. we could resole our shoes on the liver she cooked. why oh why did they feel the need to dry everything out when they cooked it. and that was a rhetorical question by the way.
