YUP , yup, and yup again 10x times over and again with 3x comcast, microsoft as well as 4 times with norton,. This morning ... chrome as well as internet explorer works however it takes a long time to load each page then takes a longer time for the bar on the right side of the screen to move the page up and down. Any bright ideas ? :idunno
it's not just your computer taking it's sweet time today to load pages. my work PC and just about everyone i spoke with today was having the same issue. one of my programs froze up entirely and caused a nightmare for others that needed to use it and my boss had to force me out of the program. the 1 time i go to use that program today and it caused me grief. :th

There are reports all over the interwebs about some really bad spam and malware attempts.

We are always doing what we can to protect our site visitors, but we also suggest our members and visitors do all they can to help protect themselves, for example:
  1. Be diligent about backing up important data!
  2. Be very mindful and careful about links you click on. Make 100% sure that you know where the click will take you. I've heard recently of sites copying firefox and pretending to offer updates to firefox at fake domains that look like firefox... only to infect computers with viruses.
  3. Don't download or install anything without knowing for sure that it's coming from a secure and safe source

My computer is less than a year old. ( as I was starting to type this a full page add pop up for gardening supplies popped up ) I had a Norton technition as well as a Norton tech. Superviser remove anything and everything not needed to run this computer and kill any malware , virus and spam or anything else that could possibly effect this computer. It is still slow to load and very slow to get the bar on the right to move each page up or down. Just how is one to know for sure that anything that I was to download is coming from a secure and safe source ? :idunno

I wish there was an easy answer for you. It's similar to "how can I make my house 100% burglar proof?" There are things you can do to decrease the chances you'll have problems, but it's hard to be 100% protected all the time.

The bad-guys on the internet are always trying to sneak around the protections we put in place, and they are getting smarter. It's very much a cat & mouse game... but not very fun.

We don't have any popup ads on TEG, so there's probably something else going on with your system. :(

I had the Comcast Superviser technition out late yesterday afternoon. Started out with the blame game pointing fingers at everyone around. After doing a number of tests, he finally said that my computer has a video card that is not performing at full potential. He also is putting in an order to replace the underground cable from their junction box to the connection on the house. Can the video card be the actual problem ? :hu

Yesterday, I was having all kinds of problems with my computer ... the computer would freeze up and little pop ups would come on saying that chrome had crashed, Norton had crashed ( I couldn't get Norton to come on to run a scan ) then another one saying that microsoft is looking for a fix. A few hours later, I was able to get Norton to run a scan and fix ELEVEN ISSUES that were affecting my computer. It is working now , but still has the same issues of operating very slowly and the bar on the R side takes a very long time to move the page up and / or down. Comcast will replace the cable running from the street box to my house in 10 more days. :caf
