If I go to the HOT PLACE when I die, my punishment for eternity will be to wash all the dishes by hand and take all the dirty clothes to the Laundromat. If I go to Heaven, there will be a dishwasher, my own washer and dryer and an EXCALIBUR DEHYDRATOR!!!!

Anyone use paper dishes, no washing.
You mean paper plates Nyboy? Of course! I use real dishes for Thanksgiving but since Christmas is a brunch I use very pretty Christmas paper plates and napkins. Still use real glass for our mimosas. :)

@baymule I followed your directions - do these look right? They will not make pretty mashed potatoes but should be o.k. in casseroles or fried.

Carol, I'm curious as to when you would recoup your expense for the Excalibur. Any idea? My brain hurts when I do math. :D

@Carol Dee I see that the potatoes did turn a little. But you know what? They look pretty darn good for the first time you ever dehydrated 'taters! :thumbsup
They will be just fine in soups and stews, AND you saved your potatoes from going bad. I think you're pretty smart! :bow

Let's see......Peel, submerge in water. After peeling what you are going to process, slice, submerge back in water. Get blanch pot boiling, I use a granite enamel pot with a smaller pot inside with holes in it. Blanch potatoes for about 4 minutes, lift them out and submerge in cold water, to cool. Drain. Arrange in Excalibur trays and dehydrate. The main thing is not to let them get exposed to air until after they are blanched.

Are you going to save some for seed potatoes? When do you plant? I plant mid to late February here, so they can make before it gets too hot.

Laundromat? Not to the rocks along the riverbank?
