Here's what you need. Wish it had brakes though. This style can come with brakes.

Side note, are they going to wire your truck with pulling package? Now is time to do that.

In MN and maybe most states (?) trailers over 3000# must have trailer brakes, so that will limit your heavy hauling a bit.

@seedcorn, MN speed law for towing trailer is posted limit. Some trailer tires have max speed limits. My enclosed trailer is 65 mph.

Some axles have speed limits on them. Need to ask. I see trailers running highways that are going way faster than axles are rated for. Usually smaller the tires, the less speed they are made for.

Seed thats the trailer now to find it used and cheap!!! Truck has hitch, will asked them to make sure it sturdy. Willn't be taking it on highways, will use on slow back country roads.

You say that now. Trust me, get a trailer that is road worthy and make sure truck has correct wiring.

i have a nice little trailer i got about 2 years ago used. it's about 10 years old and the only rust i've seen on it were where the paint got scraped on the top of the ramp from hitting the ground when opened. it's much sturdier than the trailers they have at Home Depot/Lowe's/Tractor Supply (they all get the same trailers in my area and no price difference, all rust out on the mesh after a few months on their lots). i've enjoyed using mine to pick up lumber for projects and hauling the lawn mower to my dad's when it needed a repair i couldn't handle. or bringing back & forth other equipment from my parents. it doesn't have the nice wood sides but i plan to add those eventually and has a nice ramp for wheeling stuff on it. it does have a plywood base over the mesh which didn't add a huge amount of weight and will be cheap to replace if it rots out. i paid $450 for it and it has been worth having around since i can easily lift and move it around the yard to attach to the cars.

We put on two pieces of 4' X 5 treated 3/4 inch plywood. Have two 4' x 3' pieces left from the 4x8's. I could carry both the two 4' x 5' pieces by myself at the same time so not really all that much added weight. A sheet of that cardboard/paper from a pallet would work for the sides, or use a large tarp for hauling loose material.

i think till you could get sides done on the trailer you would be able to use a large tarp that you could lay down to the trailer then run any excess tarp over the stuff you're hauling and tie that down.
