That is a very rough decision. I've known people that have help onto their pets too long. Knowing when to let them go can be very difficult. Having an animal is a huge responsibility. You sometimes have to make some very difficult decisions. Livestock is hard enough, let alone a per and friend. Knowing you, I'm sure you made the right decision. That doesn't mean it's easy.

Definitely hugs to you.

Aww, so sorry to hear that news, Thistle. May your heart heal quickly. We just put down our golden retriever this month. Always such a difficult decision. Still have my two little dogs- but they just aren't like a "real" dog...

Aww he was a good boy. I love those ears. :) You will miss him. My heart goes out to you. Never easy to loss an animal friend.

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."--Unknown

big hugs, CAROL DEE
Never heard that one before, Carol. I like it.

Oh thistle, I am so sorry about your Gator. We get a lot of love, time, family history and memories tied up in our furry friends and we miss them so much when they are gone. The hard decision you made was unselfish, thinking of Gator, not yourself, and that is the price of love. Big hugs to you and your family.

Thank you for all the kind sentiments everyone. I miss that funny face.
We took Wren and Larka for a walk in the State park yesterday. There was a hole where old "Shamu" should have been.
