    Burning bermuda thatch

    My lawn is mainly bermuda. I was thinking of burning off the thatch. I remember when a trash fire spread in my backyard one year, and it burned the thatch out. The following grass that came was beautiful and lush. Just wondered if anyone here has any opinion on burning bermuda thatch.

    Sugar maples dropping leaves

    With all this rain here in TN I guess the leaf cutter bugs (that's what we call them) hatched out. All my maples are dropping leaves like crazy! Anybody else having this trouble? Or does anyone have info about the lil buggers that are doing this?

    Peanuts

    I used raw peanuts from the grocery. Wait till fall and pull up the whole plant, let hang for around 2 wks to dry out and there you go. Do it yourself "Planters Peanuts"

    Cavendish Strawberries?

    Can't say as I've heard of them. But I looked up some info and they seem to be very highly thought of as a good June bearer. I'm trying out Sweet Charlie and Chandler variety this year on raised beds. Good luck and let me know how you like them I may have to give them a try next season.

    I have a slew of seeds from last year. They've been kept in a dark,dry,cool place. Would they still be good to use this year is my question? I've got sweet corn, cukes etc. Do I chance it or buy new for this years planting?

    Any one ever do a fall strawberry planting?

    I've heard that you can plant strawberries in the fall and they work great. Anyone ever do this? But where on earth can I get them at this time? I'm really wanting plugs but will settle on the bare root type. Any help is appreciated.

    Can anyone recommend a place to order seed potatoes? I'm planning on doing a fall crop. They aren't available locally in August so I guess I will have to order them. I already have 20 plants for harvest in summer, but I thought I'd try a fall planting too.
