    Have you ever regifted ?

Absolutely! No point in keeping something you can't use or don't like when it can go to someone who can or does :)

Why do they have to be so cute?

Shoot, you just need a dog that'll bark and chase...the 'coon doesn't need to know they're not vicious, LOL

    Speaking of liver spots.

Adding my thoughts and prayers as well. Hoping they get the cocktail just right to battle the cancer and not leave you feeling so sick. We've missed you and hope to see you back to the dirt and the screen on a regular basis soon!

OK, It's Time for all Gardeners to Get into Shape!

Ginger, Holy Basil, Aloe Vera and Feverfew are also good for inflammation. You could easily make a tea from the Ginger and Holy Basil; Aloe Vera gel/juice is available in many grocery stores. For the Feverfew, I'd recommend a tincture...it tastes really nasty and as a tincture you only need a...

    Bug Hotels

Probably won't get so elaborate, but we're definitely going to incorporate some bug habitat in our yard this year. Thanks for the site!

Super brooder expansion, beware Steve...there's chick pix

Lookin good Monty! I like your set up and may "borrow" heavily from it ;) We're hoping to get a small (about 5) order of Cx fairly soon and we'll keep 'em in the garage till they're ready to go outside. Have to agree with Steve on the sexlinks being good layers. We have 6 reds and average...

Woohoo...yay for growing things, yay for spring and yay for greenhouses!

    Any Dean Koontz Fans Here?

Yes indeed...he's one of my favorites! While I love his philosophical ramblings, I do yearn for a world where chicken motives aren't questioned, LOL

Fruits and veggies for a shade garden

I found this list on Grow Food Not Lawns...a great site! These will do well on just 4 hours of sunlight per day: kale, parsley, lettuce, garlic, mustard greens, arugula, cilantro, parsley, scallions, turnips, beets, carrots, spinach, chard, potatoes and bok choy. I've always lived where we...

What Did You Do In Your Garden Today?

Yep...collecting rain here is illegal...how dumb is that?? We're gonna do it anyway, of course. We actually buried 4 55 gallon drums and filled them so they're ready. Once we have the rabbitry roof on we'll be collecting from that and it'll run from the collection barrel into our buried ones.

    Bamboo!

Part of my decision is clumping or running. My first thought was...clumping cuz I don't want it taking over. But from what I can tell, most of the cans on the clumpers only get to about .5 inch diameter and I'd like some that are a bit bigger and more sturdy. I envision a nice clump outside...

    Bamboo!

I just found out today that there are varieties of bamboo that will grow in my zone! (5) It's pretty and would be so useful. I did a bit of online research, but probably not enough. Stopped by my fave local nursery and they're going to send me a list of what they'll have available. Anybody...

What Did You Do In Your Garden Today?

I looked at all the new snow that fell on it yesterday and thought "when that melts it'll soak in...that's a good thing" Ugh...another 4 or 5 inches of the stuff...why oh why can't it warm up about 20 degrees and drizzle instead!?? Did do some "prepping" though...found a good buy on some...

    Owwwwwww !!!!!

Maybe you can get one of those little wheelie cart things you sit on and creep around to garden. It's slow but it saves a lot of wear and tear on the knees. I blew out both mine gardening about 20 years ago...too much squatting. I have to just bend over (hard on the back) or flat out sit down...

    in Horticultural Terms

I've got a bunch of tiny tomato seedlings that have that problem right now. I've tried just prodding gently but to no avail. For now at least, I'm just leaving them cuz they're so fragile. Hoping hard they'll sort it out themselves. After all, they're all heirlooms that have been around for...

    Potatoes in 5 gallon bucket.....................

If I were going to use buckets, I'd just remove the bottoms, shovel in about 4 inches of dirt, put in the seed taters and cover 'em with another couple inches. As the plants grow, add more dirt always leaving about 6 inches of growth. Then when the season is over and the plants die, knock the...

    six pack of fox gloves

I've never grown 'em so can't offer any advice. But I can share a giggle...when I first saw the title and read the post, I didn't see the word "fox" and I wondered how the heck you were planning to grow gloves! LOL

    Found ACV with mother

You're right Meggsy...it needs to be in a non-reactive container...plastic, glass, stainless steel or coated metal like enamelware...as long as the coating isn't cracked or chipped. I hunt the thrift stores for stainless steel pots and pans, remove the handles and use those for feed and water...

    Found ACV with mother

I got a small bottle at a local organic food store. Bought a cheap gallon of pasturized ACV at WalMart. Poured out enough so that the small bottle of the unpasturized stuff would fit, dumped it in the gallon jug, left the lid cracked open a bit for oxygen and in a couple weeks...a whole gallon...
