...do you? Article on the world's hottest pepper, the Carolina Reaper. Has a good explanation of how they determine a pepper's score on the Scoville scale too.

What's your favorite hot pepper and are you growing any this year?

I grew up on jalapeños. That and occasionally seranos were all my grandma used. Some years they do fine. This year they did terrible. But my s h i s h i t o peppers did great, although they are not hot.

Lol, had to space the spelling so you wouldn't accidentally get in trouble, @ninnymary ? :D

@seedcorn , are pablanos hot or just smokey? I've never grown them, but was told they are good for canning as green chiles.

I use a lot of serranos too, dried and ground, but only grow them like every 2 or 3 years because a little goes a long way. I love their smokey undertones for cooking, love to add them to BBQ sauce.

My only hots this year were hot bananas and jalapeños. I don't like to go too hot, but my BIL sure does. He grows Thai chiles and eats them on literally everything.

Poblano has some heat. Not bad. I like a little kick but over flame throwers.

I grow jalapeños, yellow banana and ghost.
I pickle the jalapeños and yellow peppers, but use the ghosts to win bets!!!

I heard about those ghosts! They are pretty hot.

Journey, the system doesn't allow me to spell s h i s h i t o, so I have to space it out.

Seed, you mean mine? I saute it in olive oil and sprinkle with salt and lemon pepper. We really like them this way.

I also chop it up and use whenever I need a bell pepper or sweet pepper.

So you mean you're in the olive oil when you salute, or the pepper is? You're very respectful of those peppers, I must say...
