We just sold a pregnant Belfair, cow named " Rosy", to a great couple. They have a couple hundred acres, With Artisan well and hot springs.
How wonderful, hot springs, to be able to heat a large greenhouse almost free of cost.

They are off grid, using photo voltaic panels for electric power. He said " This is the first time from when I drew my first pay, that I don't have a electric bill every month."

When I questioned my contractor about solar, he knew how to kill the idea. Do you really want those UGLY panels on your new roof, you picked out such pretty roof tiles. Nope don't want ugly, next idea.

Those hot springs up in the mountains are so fantastic. Their existence is, to me, slightly discomforting somehow. Maybe just knowing how we live on the precipice all the time. One little thing could foul up and we would all be gone.

Yeah, but electric bills can get pretty ugly, too.
When one pencils out the true cost of the panels + their instalion for free ecletricity + rapid decline of the panels' convertion of sunlight efficiency to electricily + replacement costs vs. cost of electricity from the power company, one will find that your reaction of the solar costs will be :barnie :he :th Yes , I did this several times over the last 20+ years. However, I have built our last 2 homes with PASSIVE SOLAR construction features ... now that works in lowering your power bills more economically. :woot

Here my understanding is you still get a electric bill but at a lower rate. The electric company gets all the power generated and sells it back to you at lower rate (no start up cost for panels, they belong to electric company) Because they own the solar panels they also get the government credits or what ever its called. If your lucky bill might be cut in half, never free.

Well, regarding solar panels, I plan to install them. Wifey's mum has them in Australia, it works out well for her. Here on the high desert it's worth doing, I'll install them on supports on the ground. Wind Generators also worth doing .You want to own the panels and generator.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The people with the hot springs are on the high desert about 150miles from here.
