dad and brother visit

Ha, ha! That's funny, @Nyboy .

I loaned DD my brand new weedeater this spring. I probably made a mistake telling her that my old one works, just not very well. I used the old one right through the year.

Whenever I ask DW where a certain kitchen tool has gotten to, I can just count on being told that DD has it. Even if it's just a long ago memory that we once had something -- I get the same answer ;).

This is the way these things are supposed to go, I guess. Every once in awhile I ask myself if Dad gave me one of his tools or if I just never returned it ... Thirty or forty years, how am I supposed to remember?!

My dad steals when he visits. For some reason he thinks if it is outside he can take it. I learned to check his trunk before he leaves. One day I went to visit my parents noticed new bird bath was just like mine. When I got home mine was missing !!!

When my daughter left home, she went shopping in my kitchen. I see some of my favorite kitchen items in her kitchen and it makes me happy that she treasures them as much as I did. I hunted down the old aluminum cookie cutters in flea markets when I had my son and my kids grew up making shaped sugar cookies. DD has them now in a gallon glass jar on her counter and she continues the tradition. I took a load of trash to the dump in Baytown when I was 20 and dug out an enamel ware colander, took it home, bleached it and cleaned it up. Yup, she has it too, along with mixing bowls, knives, cookware.....

major, what a great gift, spending time together. Those memories will be priceless and keep you nice and warm during winters. :)

Nyboy, that cracked me up about the birdbath. But hey, if he's from the city, I guess anything outside is considered trash or free for the taking.

He doesn't have cold winters Mary, but I'm sure he appreciates the kind thought. :p Like you, he's able to garden even in the depths of winter.
At least that's what he's always telling us above the 35th parallel. ;)
