I told the neighbor who gave me the guts a couple days ago I'd never been fishing. Apparently that is a neighborhood no-no lol. My entire neighborhood gathered together. My neighbor across the street strung up poles for me and gave me a full tackle thing to borrow, the neighbor next door gave me a fishing net to scoop up fishies with. My neighbor at the end and fish-gut neighbor decided between themselves that "Silver lake" would be best, and finally my co-worker shuttled me off to go fishing.

It was fun! I even caught a fish. I missed the first one because they told me to watch the bobber, and forgot to tell me that when the bobber is gone I'm supposed to do something.

At the dock there was a ton of nice gentlemen who made it their best effort to make sure my son and I had a wonderful time. A "pro bass" fisher got a fish on the line and gave the reel to my son so he could pull it in. Mr. Helpful was SO excited when he got to keep the fish. Another one helped me pull in my biggest fish, which I had a lot of trouble with because he was so darn strong. Another helped me get a lil fish off my hook to throw back.

We had a marvelous time and will definitely be going back!

@AMKuska it sounds like you had a wonderful day. And that you have some pretty great neighbors. I do see more fishing in you future and lots of fish guts for the garden. :) LOVE the happy photo of you and son.

Glad you had a good time. We have not yet been fishing this season hopefully soon though. Congratulations on both of your first fish! :clap

It's actually my son's 3rd fish. >.< He has gone with his grandma once to a U-fish and then again with his kindergarten field trip. He was a bit surprised that the fish didn't bite the exact second the hook fell in the water, so maybe in a way it really was his first fish. ;)
