    Canesister's 2019 farm journal

glad to know i'm not the only one that brings a chicken in the house & puts them in the bathtub when one gets sick/injured. my DH thought i was crazy! i kept telling him it makes sense when you need to observe & keep them warm especially when it's the middle of winter. :p

Hello All! Garden newbie in a cold place

i'm close to a zone 4 but really zone 5 here. i do have a friend who lives in Mankato, MN who says our weather is pretty comparable when we travel about an hour north of here to the mountains which is zone 4. tomatoes and peppers can be the hardest things to get going & growing with a short...

    morning grrrrrr

i've been using gas ranges for a long time so not worried about the sleeve thing. i remember growing up with an electric stove till my teens & then my mother switching over to gas. here is was a god send when you loose power & need to cook. problem is most ranges now have so many electric...

    Purchasing Compressed vs Loose Soil

i've bought the compressed promix soils. Lambert's is the one i can get from my local feed store & the only complaint i have is once the bail is opened and i set it aside after using it, it dries out and takes awhile to hydrate again. i have 1/3 of one i bought last year still on my porch for...

What do Young People Not Understand

cursive writing (when you have to decipher it), and how to put down their 'dumb' phones long enough to do actual work! i've seen this where i work and those kids don't usually last long because they need to take a selfie every 5 seconds when they shouldn't even have it near sensitive info!

    majors 2019 first hijacked thread

guess i should get a pic of my iris and the garlic bed since i see mine never fully went dormant & we've already had some crazy cold weather & inches of snow that usually knocks the stuff back for the season. my perennial bunching onions should be doing fine under the layer of snow still on top...

could be loosing my garden buddy soon

i had an issue with the 2nd authentication i set up about 2 years ago when some of my accounts were hacked and just before Christmas my old 'smart' phone of the past 3 1/2 years gave up the ghost. so had to get a new phone & set up a bunch of new apps. i remembered to put the Google...

could be loosing my garden buddy soon

those of you that know me know i have a corgi named Ein. he's my little garden buddy that keeps the chickens in check. when Chickie was still with me they were pretty much attached at the hip. in fact Chickie used to peck at Ein's hip if he didn't move out of the way quick enough! the dog would...
