How much space do rose seedlings need

Haha, so true! I sure hope a 4 inch pot will work, as that's the highest I can go within a resonable price range. I'm working on an irrigation system to keep them from drying out; I definately don't want to lose a batch from something so preventable! Deer are a real problem to fence out - I...

How much space do rose seedlings need

How much space do rose seedlings need until their first bloom? What about their first year? When can they be transplanted into the ground? I have searched the internet for information, but have found little that was useful. I know they need anywhere from a 2" pot to a 4" pot, but I don't even...

    Some questions on breeding roses

Thank you for the info. It makes sense if it was mold or something similar. I'll make sure to really clean the container for next year. I checked out the link, but it doesn't let me read much unless I join, so I'll look further into it later when I have some money to spend.

    Some questions on breeding roses

Hey everyone! So I'm going to try and start breeding roses (as in new varieties, not propegating with cuttings) and I can't find an answer to these questions: - Though it's late in the season my new rose bush (Midnight Blue) finally made blooms and is doing well. I decided to go ahead and...

What is this bug (looks like ladybug on steriods)

I know this is a old post, but I thought I'd chime in anyway (after all I found it on the first page!). Everything here is what I experienced. We always called them bean beetles, but I don't know why. I guess it's because they liked hanging out on our green bean plants. They don't normally...

Where and how to plant the Pomagranite

My mom bought a couple of pomagranite bushes from a website that says they can grow in zone 7 (our zone). Since most places say pomagranite only grows in zone 8 or warmer, mom wants to plant the bushes on the south side of the property. The south side of the property is heavy clay and I've...

    Accidentally acquired rabbits

Head on over to the sister site, Backyardherds (there's a link at the bottom of the page). They have a lot of great info on rabbits!

Tadpole rescue 2011 and garden helpers:)

Awww, this reminds me of when we had a "pond" in front of our house. We had tadpoles living amongst all the grass and water and when the "pond" got too hot or dry we'd add more water. It was fun watching them :D.

    Eastern bluebirds nesting

We have bluebirds nesting in a nestbox that's on a fencepost litteraly right next to the garden. They raised babies there last year too, and that's with 7 people tilling, weeding, hoeing, and harvesting plants. I wouldn't worry too much about her abandoning :). Beautiful pictures!

pictures of fruit trees, semi and standard please! Also pros and cons

Well, I'm probably not getting them anytime soon (don't own my own house yet), so it'll be a while before I can even start shopping. I just love doing research and preparing for when I can buy and it drives me mad when I can't find an answer, y'know? ;)

pictures of fruit trees, semi and standard please! Also pros and cons

Thank you both for the information! I found these two pictures while searching again, so I think I have a basic idea of size (anyone know how tall those ladders are?). It brings another question to my mind though; is it normal for semi-dwarf to be that bushy at the bottom? So far I think I...

Hello everyone! I've been on BYC and BYH for quite a while now but this is my first venture into easy garden. Anywho, I'm trying to find as much information on fruit trees as possible because I hope to use it in the future. Soooo here are my questions: 1. My biggest problem is that I have a...
