Here is a picture of my plum... nectaplum actually. Why does it look like it is a mosaic? Thanks, Ellie

    Anyone grow Sun Berries?

I've heard that sun berries and wonder berries are the same thing. Could be wrong... I also planted some for the first time. My but they do grow well. They already have berries on them. I understand that you are supposed to wait until they are glossy then go dull before you harvest them. It...

    When to Plant Strawberries

I am in zone 9 and planted some in the fall. I also planted some today and I am sure that they will do well. Don't know if that helps.

    Strawberry Fields Forever?

Mine lasted four or five years, but the lady where I buy the plants say that is a little unusual. They usually last two to three years. I think it is because I put them in holes in black plastic and water them three times a day. I live where it is very hot.

    The peppers won't grow.

What Pat said, and further, peppers take longer to germinate than peppers. Just wait and see!!!

    Growing Garlic/Shallots

I say go for it. I planted mine in January and they are looking good, but if you plant them now, you may just do well. Hey, you could at least plant a few cloves to see how they do.

    Any ideas on attracting bees?

The seem to adore upright Rosemary. You can plant it as a hedge or in with some of the other plants mentioned. It smells good too :)

    Starting tomatoes. Update!

Once mine are up, I discontinue any bottom heat if I was using it. They actually like cooler temps as they grow into our beloved little plants. Not cold, just not at the warm germinating temps.

    Peppers in Jiffy starter

I find that they need warmth as said, but they don't need light until they are up. You can put them on top of a freezer, water heater, refrigerator (mine is cold, though) or something. Peppers need bottom warmth, from what I have learned. They also take a little longer to come up, sometimes...

    Starting tomatoes. Update!

Just to add my two cents: You can use a heating pad on low under seedlings if you want. Peppers do adore the bottom heat, and tomatoes like it but will do fine without it as posters have said. Be sure to put a plastic bag over the heating pad because of water. I use the top of my freezer...

    Garlic need watering?

Hi, I put my garlic in a month ago, but the weather has hovered in the upper 60's. Now it was 77 today! Should I water the garlic or wait for the rains which will come? Last year I put it in the ground in December and it was already raining. It will be in the high 70's again tomorrow and...
