    Happy but yet disappointed rant...

My first year of gardening and I find myself happy and sad at the same time. We got a lot of peas and green beans and lettuce so for that I am happy. My cucumbers were a complete failure (thankfully my moms did great so we are swapping zucchini and cukes!). My sugar baby melons started off good...

    Incident this morning!

I'm sorry for your losses but happy to hear that you got it taken care of. Hopefully you don't have anymore getting in. It's nice to hear of other women who are able to "hold their own"! I had to kill what I thought may have been a cooperhead that got in with my girls not too long...

    Garden Photos, Everyone Post Some

Thank you Lesa and Cat! We have other sunflowers planted randomly around the yard (first time with those too!) and I planted at different times so our lil man used to go around and see if he was taller than each of them. We still have a few that he is taller than :)

    Garden Photos, Everyone Post Some

This is my tiny garden...with it being my first year, I only did a few plants and I am amazed at how much I have learned from this site as well as through experience...I didn't expect the cherry tomato plants to be so big! I have 2 zuke plants that are behind the tomato plants and they are huge...

    Dying viburnum bush

I'm sorry, what is debris harm?! I still have to cut that whole side off, the other looks good-minus the fact that it didn't bloom this year :-( I just have to figure out how to make the remaining part look okay with it being just on the right side, almost looking like it will topple over when I...

    Solar Lights?

I got our little bronze ones at Big Lots a few months ago for $1 each and I think they look great and are as bright as our other bigger, more expensive ones!

    Scary stuff

Wow, that is scary stuff! I would have never imagined something like that could even happen.

    Dying viburnum bush

Unfortunately she won't stop and thankfully hasn't oversprayed into my garden...yet (may have to take preventative measures on that area as well!) She doesn't understand that wind can carry that stuff! I will baby this thing from now on and hope the other half blooms this year! You all are so...

    Dying viburnum bush

Thanks for all of your insight! I have cut away at the "winter dead" stuff and found white fungus on some branches and very few short branch "stumps" hollowed out with what looks like carpenter ants inside. I read that they don't do the damage though, they just enjoy being where damage has...

    Dying viburnum bush

I have been noticing more and more "damage" to the low bark. It looks like sawdust on the ground below it as well. The lower section of branches on the left side are bare but the upper left has wilting leaves. Should I take a saw to the left side of the "Y" at the trunk to remove that whole half...

    Dying viburnum bush

Sorry if the pic is hard to see but I literally just noticed this 5 minutes ago. The bush (which through previous year postings believe it is a snowball viburnum) comes up as one trunk then splits off to two. The left side is dead! Well, technically it looks to still be in the process of dying...
