Best Mail Order Company for Fruit Trees and Shrubs?

After lots of advice, I did research into my counties native fruit trees and shrubs and found an orchard not too far away that grows what I want. Adams County Nursery. I ordered 2 cherry trees, Hartland, an apple tree, autumn gala, and a nectarine tree, redgold. Now is the problem of finding the...

Best Mail Order Company for Fruit Trees and Shrubs?

I’m looking for a reputable company with good prices and good products to order from. I’m interested in a couple of cherry trees, a peach tree, a raspberry bush, strawberries, and maybe blueberries and grapes. There’s a lot out there and I’d like some advice on what others have liked. Thanks guys!

    Starting squash seeds indoors?

Fences keep animals out???? Not in my experience HAHA. That being said we have standard chain link on 2 sides, and wide fencing on the other 2 sides. We need to get serious. Animals don’t mess around!

    Starting squash seeds indoors?

We have lots of squirrels, and chip links running around and moles all of a sudden too. I think some of all of those are digging up the seeds before they have a chance to sprout. The mini cage around the seed sounds like the best option. Thank you. I think I’m so eager for spring I’m just...

    Starting squash seeds indoors?

I’ve researched this a bit but still in need of some advice. I have an issue with squash and sunflower seeds being dug up and eaten by animals. I’d really love to grow these in places where I have sun and places for squash to climb up, like by a fence. Is there a way I can start indoors without...

Any Organic Veggie Gardeners out there?

Our home in the winter is around 66 F but I germinate then in seed starter with the clear lid so they’ll probably be closer to 70+. However I have no problem germinating seed from the store. So I think it must be what you said about letting them ripen fully before trying to save the seed...

Any Organic Veggie Gardeners out there?

Very interesting. I did save the seeds, but I seem to have issues regrowing pepper seeds. Like maybe 3% will grow from what I’ve saved. So I’m not really sure how our peppers ended up so damn hot. Thanks for your input!

Any Organic Veggie Gardeners out there?

Hornets, yellow jackets, and wasps are plentiful here as well. It seems each year we’re finding more and more that need to be moved. Those are the ones I worry about when my kids are running around the backyard. Those buggers hurt!

Any Organic Veggie Gardeners out there?

I ive noticed in large decline in bumble bees and honey bees as well. Whenever our kids freak out because a bee is “near them” we tell them to sit still and let them be. And that they are such an important animal and we’d have no food if they weren’t here. Bees are my next project once I’ve...

Any Organic Veggie Gardeners out there?

I’d certainly like to think so!!!! I guess I meant more what is in the guidelines of what is considered organic gardening... USDA organic seeds, compost, natural pesticides or insecticides. No Harsh deadly chemicals or chemical fertilizers. That’s what I’m doing. Was looking for some guidance...

Also- have you noticed any differences in your peppers? Because bees cross pollinate, they can change the “natural” state of what a pepper would be grown without different varieties around. For example: we planted a variety of hot peppers last year including some habaneros, jalapeños, cherry...

Any Organic Veggie Gardeners out there?

Very impressive list. I’ll look into the companion planting, I have only heard a few of those. You don’t attempt growing asparagus? We get 4-5 bunches a spring and I’ve only scattered 2 sets of seeds a few years ago. They’re perennials ya know. Love me some perennials...
