What type of disease is this (blight, canker, septoria leaf spot)?

I'm thinking of digging up this tomato plant and the basil plant next to it, both of which have damage to them. Last week and before that, when I would go out to the garden (when it was a little warmer, but this past month) there would be an ever increasing number of what looked like yellow...

    Raised bed construction material

Wow Heather, that's lots of work!! This year I was lucky with the spot I chose--most of the grass was already dead and had been for years. It was where my fiance's brother stored his Scamp Camper trailer, and he sold it in February, and so this area had years of no sunlight (although my dog did...

    Raised bed construction material

I would really love to see some close-ups of the strawberries and/or marigolds growing out of the cement block garden beds. I am very interested in possibly trying this for next year! Aside from the galvanized pool for a bottom layer of the garden bed, what do most people use as a bottom layer...

There's now two mushrooms sprouting next to my pepper plant *sigh*

Thank you all! The mushrooms are now gone. I did some deep digging as I have lots of mulch on top of my soil and some of that black garden cloth to protect against weeds (it's doing a GREAT job since my stuff is right in the dirt) to check down there and see if anything looked problematic...

    new front yard herb beds

I love the way this looks, very fitting, inviting, and different. It's non-fussy and useful!! :D People can have a snack too if you take too long answering the door. ;)

    Herb Drying Preparation Question

Thanks Lesa, I might do that with this next batch. This latest batch I did not wash the basil, but left it out on the counter for a while in case of buggies. Didn't see any when I picked off the leaves, and set them on top of a paper towel on a cookie sheet, then layered another paper towel on...

There's now two mushrooms sprouting next to my pepper plant *sigh*

Hey Rich--I live in the city of St. Louis and we got a lot of rain at once for a bit on Friday, the typical too much too soon thing that happens often here. :P We are expecting to be getting some tonight so I probably won't be watering tomorrow! The storm might not have went south enough to hit...

There's now two mushrooms sprouting next to my pepper plant *sigh*

So I went out in the garden this morning and I found two mushrooms sprouted right beside my hot pepper plant. I watered the plants on Thursday morning and then Friday and Saturday we got a decent amount of rain (I watered kind of heavily as I didn't believe the weatherman) and am expecting some...

blue colored bug on my pumpkin plant

A good tip for killing these things au natural: squish the eggs, and any bugs you see. they are nocturnal, so put out a log (if you look this up you may be able to find out what type of wood works best) nearby the plants and in the morning around dawn go out and if there are any on the plant...

The green beans, onions and broccoli look especially fabulous! What a harvest! I am hungry just looking at all that!

    Links to zucchini recipies

The zucchini snack pizzas--shoot, someone told me their favorite food as a child was when their mother would take a zucchini from the garden, slice it down the middle, sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on it and bake until tender! Forget the tomatoes and olive oil! Very nice to share!!

My new favorite tomato! So weird...

So weird looking! But also very cute and the bottom photo after you picked a couple off--I like how they stay together! Are they easy to pick off without damaging any other tomato?

    Herb Drying Preparation Question

So I took it out of the fridge today and it looks basically the same as it did the other day. Nothing new or weird. I am guessing that the kind of mold that would dry on too-wet basil in the fridge would be white and fuzzy? Or black and fuzzy? Some tiny spots on the leaves have bits of black...

What is this insect feasting on my precious tomato?

It's supposed to rain tonight, and there is possibility of rain all weekend. :( I picked off four of these guys today off my plant--one was a big one and one small one and two super tiny barely there ones. The latter came later in the day (I went out there frequently to check after this...

    Herb Drying Preparation Question

Well the parsley I had lying out in a brown bag is dry and I put it up, but it does not have a strong smell, so I hope it's still flavorful. The thyme was *especially* fragrant and looked good so I also put it up since it's done drying (I can still smell it on my fingers mmm). The other parsley...
