Getting ready to clean the coop next week so hopefully this will help.

I have three bins so there is always some compost that is "not done" I have collected and brought them from other places in my yard after rain but there still never seems to be many in the compost or my garden.

i have had three nice big compost bins going for about four years now. I have a good balance of materials......veggie and fruit scrape, newspaper, leaves, pulled up plants, grass clippings, decomposed wood shavings and chicken manure. Problem is....no worms! I'm considering buying some to help...

# 1 pest is SQUASH BUGS! Every year without fail! # 1 disease is UNKNOWN name it it kills my cucumbers and musk melons every year!

Sorry to be ignorant but what do you mean by consecutive planting?

No success with them here in southwestern VA. Last year they made it to about 6-12" tall then???? This year I killed my seedlings and now it's too late to start over.:(

I read over and over and over about how important it is have the right ph for different types of plants but am at a loss as to how to accomplish this when using the square foot method in raised beds. Most of my beds are 4'x4' and I grow as many as 6 or 8 varieties of vegetables in that one bed...

AWESOME looking plants, Jack! :drool I ditched mine......needed the space for next crop. Last year I did everything the same and was done harvesting and canning them by this time. Grrrrr!

Hey folks, lets not go bashing the seed company without cause. Bakers Creek has a very good reputation and until now I have experienced about 99% seed viability. I have been very satisfied with all I have purchased before. :) Sounds like maybe I had too much nitrogen. Thanks for the input...

Not "Bulls Blood" but yes both types of beets I planted were from Bakers Creek. I've never had any problem with their seed before and this year I planted in the same soil, nearly the same time and nearly the same location. I yanked them yesterday because I needed the room. Hmmmm.....considering...

Well, if I planted chard the seed company messed up. I have chard planted and it does not look the same. It's plenty warm....I had already harvested by this time last year.
