just depends, on a lot of things. I have seen some root in as short as 2 weeks and others take 6months. As long as the cutting is green, there is a chance. Time of year; weather; variety of rose all make rooting times different. If it ain't dead, don't give up.
Dixie - pull the leaves off that would be under ground - it will rot. Also - pinch off any very new leaves at the top.
