The melon was never white only green. They are sprawling but not huge. The name on the package is Kazah but I couldn't find anything under that spelling. :/

    Kazahk Melon

Tigger didn't do anything for me. Tiny, pretty plant, but nothing. My watermelons didn't do anything either. :/ I want to try Charentais and Swan Lake next year. I did find out that the Kazahk should turn yellow when ripe so it seems I have a bit of a wait.

    Kazahk Melon

I don't know yet. It's supposed to be very sweet, like Golden Sweet or Sakata's Sweet, with an edible skin. The flesh is white and it's a single serving size melon. It's been very enthusiastic.

    Kazahk Melon

I've been comparing them to the Golden Sweets. They are about the same size but the GS hasn't turned gold yet. It's a soft lemon yellow, so I'm thinking I should wait a while. Does that sound right?

    Hardy fast growing vines

Did you want annual or perennial? I put a trumpet vine inside my run but I caged it until it was tall enough and woody so they couldn't destroy it. They really seen to like the fallen blossoms.

    Lawn Alternative?

At groworganic.com they have an Omega 3 mix for chickens; clover, alfalfa, flax, and I can' remember the rest. It should take traffic, chickens, and minimal care. When you do mow it put it in the compost pile.;)

    caster beans as a 'fence'?

You might try a nice clumping bamboo. Its a very good privacy screen and not harmful to pets or people.

    My Rosemary

Last summer I purchased a hardy rosemary. It survived our high desert winter, snow, freezing rain, winds and all. It's blooming like mad now. It's in front of the house with the Russian sages and red hot pokers.
