We have had rain for 5 days straight and are supposed to get more. I have been trying to pick beans pods between rains and dry them inside but many of the seeds are already starting to germinate. Is there any way to save these seeds? Is it possible to refrigerate the seeds that are sprouting so...

Russ - I have 3 plants of Family growing so there should be fresh seeds of that variety.

Russ - I got my package of beans last week. What a lovely bunch of beans.Thank you so much. Now that taxes are done, I can get them organized and ready to plant!! I am getting excited about gardening again even though we are still almost a month away from bean planting time.

Russ - I have been shelling out some of my earlier picked beans and I found some Fanoman beans. No wonder they weren't producing later. They had done their thing before our heat & drought hit! I will get them in the mail to you but probably after Christmas.

I'm happy to hear the seeds arrived. I enjoyed trying out the different varieties. I especially liked the Flor de Mayo and the Yeome Pastel Eye. They have a beautiful seed coloration. Thanks for letting me participate. I would definitely like to be part of the project next year!

I do have the two plants in pots. Our first frost is probably 12 weeks away also. I put the pots in a protected place on the patio tonight as the storms are rolling through yet again.

We live in the country and it always seems to take a little longer with the mail. It is time to plant beans here if it would stop raining for a while.
