Thanks for your patience! I think we've got all of them for now :) . It's a constant game of cat and mouse with these scammers. It's tricky for us because we need to find the balance between blocking them but also not blocking legitimate users, and as computers and AI get more sophisticated...

This kind of spam is so 2001! It used to be relevant when the search engines were super stupid and would count any and all links back to sites. And it maybe kind of worked when people were stupid and clicked on links without thinking about it. These days, Search engines completely ignore this...

Kinda... they are called "aerial roots"... and from what I've read, mostly that grow above the ground for climbing.
