Hey! I grew Ram’s horn this year (not seed from you- from a swap) and look at what the trellis threw me! Talk about a mix. The pods didn’t look all that different from the outside either! Very prolific for me- just like you said.
I forgot to say- I will go back and see what I have left of what you originally sent to see if I can try Kutasi princess and likely Mona Lisa as well in 2020.
My seed bins are a freaking disaster right now though. Ugh omg. I have to get them organized tho as it’s seed buying season!!
Hi Russ! I didn’t forget about you, or the easy bean network!
I got about 1/2 the seeds packaged and am slowly making way through my other bean bags.
I couldn’t get kutasi princess to germinate for me, so you won’t be getting any of those back.
Pale grey lavender and Atwater are bagged. Mona...
I generally lay them out on a paper plate for a good while before putting them in baggies. Not until November though and I’ve never had issues with germination. However, I don’t freeze seeds currently. They will sit out to dry awhile longer- only in the bag now because I sit and Shell a lot at a...
Just popping in to say pale grey lavender did decent for me. Got your seeds for that Russ. I know Mona Lisa and kutsai princess might not get beans from. They gave me trouble from the start. :/ we will see...
I’m having a heck of a time getting Kutasi princess and Mona Lisa germinated. I’m going to replant some seeds today and might start some in cells. I got a couple plants of each I believe, but I want a full trellis. :/
I’m here I’m here I promise!!
The farm gets busy busy and it’s hard for me to find time to write a post. I post a lot on Instagram because I can record a short video and upload it easy peasy!
I planted the varieties you sent me today.
Red swan
Atwater
Mona Lisa
Tanyas pink pod
Pale grey...
Awesome!! Do you just mail in an order form? Or do I email them first? Maybe I’m having so much trouble because I’m on a mobile device but I’m struggling with their website!
Ok, I will hope that my source pulls through that as I can’t find anywhere on the site that Fava! Haha. The site is rather hard on the eyes and not too easy to follow.
Yes, I believe baker creek offered it in 2015, it was brought to them by Joseph Simcox, and he has a pic of the freshly shelled favas on his instagram. Looks like this:
Apparently though it doesnt look like a lot of people either grew it or maintained it. :/
Annette I know you from garden web days too. Same name as on here. Have you heard of the fingerprint Fava from Peru? I’m looking to grow it out this coming year and redistribute it, finding seed in the US is difficult. There is someone on the SSE that has it labeled as Tarma spiral, so fingers...
My first bean planting of something other than a standard green bean, I do remember and really wasn’t that long ago. It was calypso, and I still have seed I’ve saved from that growing in my collection :)
I primarily saved tomato seeds for the longest time, and I would say since moving to this...
