Well, I dug up my potatoes 🥔
Bought a small seed bag, cut and put in layers into three 30 gallon grow bags.
The dirt remained soft and fluffy all the way to about the last 3-5in at the base, then it was more compact with no taters.
Will add rabbit manure and then they'll be ready for new...
Man, I learned about fridge pickles near the end of making a ton of WB pickles, and I swore off water bath canning them! 1.5 years and fridge pickles are crisp and perfect.
I think I might try making flakes sooner than trying to can them. But we'll see.
Well....yeah. idk what to do....
First floor-
Laundry room/mudroom, AC vent closed off, door mostly closed. Too hot for storage, but fine for curing.
Crawlspace
4ft into the dirt on one side, zero on the opposite. Probably humid enough, but on a 65F morning, it is 61F inside.
no clue how...
Last year, my crawlspace failed as storage, many potatoes started to mold and rot, fast. I still have survivors in a drawer in my fridge! DH hates that.
Googled how to store them, yet again, and I really don't understand how a regular person in a modern house can create all of these...
Ugh, gotta dig out dirt to be able to fit in the irises....Was hoping it settled enough that I could just add on top.
Ordered some beefsteak tomato seeds and cotton seeds for next year!
Still waiting for plants to die back....Some did, but not enough of them.
Going to be 78F, supposedly. I'm thinking of just digging them up and moving today regardless. I don't want to be freezing while moving plants...
Was supposed to be 36F...Looks like it got to 27.9F instead!
Needless to say, tomato, pumpkin, most pepper, have wilted today.
Awful dental pain lately, so idk when I'll get to pulling and tossing the plants into compost.
Getting antsy about the hard freeze and playing musical plants. So, moved all of the potted plants to where they'll go into.
The escaped pink polka dot plant. Dug up and potted to be sold tomorrow.
