    My San Marzanos are smaller than a yellow pear tomato..I was disappointed in the size. Roasting them with the skins on , will puree and freeze. W:(e are very dry...thinking why they are so small. Seeds from Baker Creek

    Report on two tomato varieties

    Great post. I have San Marzano this year. The fruits are still small and I was worried they mixed up the seed and I received pear tomatoes. Will have to relax and wait for them. The plants are looking great. Taller than I have ever had.

    Snow melted! Planted peas, onions and radishes. Dinosaur Kale and Chinese cabbage in the greenhouse. Hard to believe had 9 inches of snow on thurs May 2

    What I've been waiting for...

    REALLY! I am now putting my snowpants on to get to the chicken coop! My pansies on the deck are under 9 inches of snow! May 3rd..Grrr..seedlings in the porch are ready to give up...happy spring! but it will be grand when (if) it arrives this year!

    Making History

    Ridgerunner...I hear ya! We received 9 plus inches of heavy wet snow yesterday. Some towns by us received 17 inches. It is the winter that jusy won`t quit! Loads of seedlings ready to go in. Happy planting....eventually!

    Had a #25 bag of tomatoes in freezer. Canned 9 quarts of tomatoes. Glad to have the freezer space

    Mole Repellant?

    I started growing castor beans for mole repellent a few years ago. Not sure it works but the plants are very tropical looking. I mold cement birdbaths from the leaves. All parts of the plant is poisonous but have never had a problem. We have dogs, cat and chickens. Also grow them by the veg...

    Does anyone use Tansy for anything? Last year I planted it by my squash plants to deter bugs. It helped maybe a little. It reseeded alot! This year I have been cutting it and mulching my squash , pumpkins and zukes. They look very good. Jury still out on if it really helps. Keeping my fingers...
