I don't know what variety of grape tomatoes I have this yr but they are teardrop shaped, delicious and sweet. I have millions of them BUT~ they are all splitting as soon as they start to ripen?? Anything I can do to prevent this?? If the problem is too much water, can't control the rain!

Dumb question of the day~ Can all my garden weeds go in the compost pile or will that make the compost really sprout weeds next spring when I use it in the veg garden?? thanks

OOPs, I had no idea that boxwoods were toxic. My chickens don't go in the front yard so never go near them. Maybe thats why the deer also avoid these nice shrubs! I guess I misunderstood the actual question.

Hi, time to begin hilling the potato plants. Does anyone have a suggestion of what to use other than straight soil? Straw,hay, peatmoss,etc?? We usually have trouble finding enough garden soil to continue to "hill" all summer. thanks

Thanks you for the replys. We do have horses,so have hay bales. I thought the hay as mulch would drop seeds in the garden and create more weeds. Am I mistaken?? L
