A bit off topic, but why is tarragon "dreaded?" I've been trying to grow seeds of it in my herb garden and finally got one strong plant. Is it like mint?

Wow, there are so many variables here! If your soil is fertile on its own, you may get good yields the first yearwith no fertilizer. However, if it is sandy, clayey, or just not full of organic material you may not. I move a lot and it seems every new garden I start does great the first year...

It looks like the Anaheim peppers i get at the farmer's market. They are a little hot, but very palatable! you can use them with tomatillos to make green enchilada sauce!

I have been gardening on and off for years but have never found a really good irrigation system. I have some crops in blocks (lettuce, flowers) and some in hills (tomatoes, squash) but few in tidy rows that work well with soaker hoses. I am mostly overhead watering but I need something better...
