I am putting together my order for my seeds/plants for the spring. This warm weather has be chomping at the bit to start the garden. Park seeds seems to be cheaper but does that come at the price of quality? I'm still ordering my strawberries from Burpee.

First I want to say Parkseed is in SC and they have more options for our zone. (Hi neighbor!)

And I find parkseed to offer more seed for the price, and I've bought from both over the years. I choose Parkseed!

I have never ordered from Parks but I do agree with vfem in the fact the it is better to order near you. This year I ordered from Annie's Heirloom Seed which is in MI. I have ordered from Heirloom Seeds also which I believe is in PA and my onion seed this year came from a company here in Ohio. You know that the seeds will produce in your area with more local companies. Burpee is a very large company and I am sure gets it seeds from everywhere so there is no telling. This is just how I do it though not an expert opinion. I don't have anything against Burpee I actually got some garlic from there last fall so part of my garden will be Burpee.

When I first started ordering seeds years ago, I ordered almost exclusively from Burpee. As I'm about to place my seed orders soon, I've been comparing prices between catalogs/companies, and I've noticed recently that their prices are quite a bit higher than others. I am planning on ordering a couple things from them...but the seeds I really want to get are almost $6 for 30 seeds! yikes... :/

I will not order from burpee, their shipping price is out of sight, You have lots of other company's to choose from, best to order local when you can

I used to order only from Burpee because their germination is excellent. It seems that today the processing must be greatly improved because any seed I buy seems to grow. Burpee is much more expensive. The only seed I have had problems with is locale store bought seed near the end of the season. If the store does not take care of the seed storage you may have germination problems. I have had no trouble with seed companies where I buy it directly. Home depot sells Burpee seed at a great discount, though not a vast variety of choices. They may be smaller quantities of seed but for most home owners it is still plenty of seed.

I too purchased from Burpee in the past, but the seed I buy from them now is through the local stores. Variety is limited but occasionaly they have what I want. Park is gettng most of my order this year.

I got some garlic there last fall and my shipping was free. The prices weren't too bad, actually with the free shipping it was better then where I normally get it so I went with them.
