Mushy Asparagus

I had some nice looking spears a couple of days ago. Now they are all mushy and look to be dead or on their way. Does a heavy frost cause this or something else ? I just planted them last year. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I'll bet they are frost bitten...You really should wait a few years to harvest them anyway.

i wasn't going to harvest this year I was just concerned that something other than frost might be the problem.

Ours have been freezing.Then they are mushy.
They will keep coming. If this is the first year, just let them grow.

We have an established bed that was coming up when we got a cold night. Those spears turned mushy. New stuff is just fine. :)
