Tomatoes! Finally!!! I'm so happy to have a BLT tonight! I also picked my first eggplant, more beans, and more cucumbers. Also a few jalapenos. But I have tomatoes!!

I picked green beans, which I could eat, plus some half eaten tomatoes than the garden critters got to first.

Backyard buddies: Do you think the cayenne sprinkles would work to keep ground squirrels from eating all of the leaves off of my pole bean plants?
I harvested some more crook-necked squash today, about a six fruits.

I picked kentucky pole beans, broccoli, carrots, basil, parsley, squash and rosemary, steamed it up, added pasta and made an incredible dinner. Just love the fresh veggies.

It won't hurt anything to try, Blurose. Many rats eat hot peppers, (ours did.) but maybe your squirrels don't.

Thanks, Tutter, for stepping in to answer. I've been getting ready for a trip so I've not been online as often.
I'd give it a try, Blurose. The cayenne sprinkles can make it taste bad, which is one way to stop them. Another option is to make the area smell bad. The vinegar rags on a stick surrounding the area is one easy option to try. Just re-soak the rags every couple of days. There are commercially produced products specific to keeping squirrels out of the garden, but I don't have any experience with them. Perhaps there are others who do.
