that volunteer tomato I was all excited about this Spring turned out to be a real dud. It was very susceptible to virus attack as soon as the weather warmed up and the tomatos were few and nothing to brag about. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

How embarrassing.... I had a Martha Stewart vision in my mind when I dreamed this one up. Look at it.... it's Martha Stewart on crack.
I cannot even believe that it's been sitting out there by the "new" veggie plot for 2 years now and I haven't even fixed the edging.
I hang my head in shame.....

I have to do the belly crawl every year if I don't want a lot of tomatos going to waste. The other day I was crawling around in there and spooked a stray cat. I don't know which of us moved the fastest. Scared the liver and lights out of me and I guess it did the cat also. Neither of us expected to end up nose to nose.

Good thing it wasn't a skunk.

I have to make a list.

The mint has gone to seed and I am not sure what happens after that.
The tomatoes are planted too close together.
The tomatoes are planted too close to the pole beans.
The pole beans are too close to the cucumbers that are suppose to be climbing a trellis.
The slugs ate the cabbage.
The broccoli I might have pulled up too early.
The cauliflower did not grow.
The peas that were suppose to be 18 inches tall were over 36 inches tall and fell over.
I then planted tall telephone peas on the south side of the peppers and it shaded them.
The squash are too close together and have weeds.
The strawberries, I give up. I dug all of them up this spring. DH tilled the whole area. We put in more compost. I planted the strawberries too close AGAIN . The weeds came. The slugs came. I weeded the whole thing again. The weeds came. DH weeded it again and took out every single weed and blade of grass. It is overgrown again. I am digging them up this fall and putting them in boxes and then use that area of the garden for compost bins.
As I am writing this, I know in the morning we have to hurry up and get some more support on the tomatoes and cherry tomatoes or the cherry tomatoes are going to fall over on top of the tomato row.

Well, I will have to go snap a pic of the last section of my garden that I haven't been able to weed yet. It is totally consumed now. Mulch, mulch, mulch...I always know better. I was going to go salvage old hay from the farm because I hate to spend the money for straw, but I never got around to it. :/

Also, I did not get my fruit trees sprayed with dormant oil this year. The apples and peaches are pretty gnarly.
