Eight years!? (That's half of my young life there!) Well I'm glad that you finally got them Red! Make sure to update us with pictures.

Good question Nyboy! Bill wasn't joking when he said that Cloudberries require a complicated stratification. I think that the bleach is probably to break down some germination inhibitor in the seed coat. After that germination inhibitor breaks down, the seeds are probably going to have to go through a cold period to break there dormancy.

I think the bleach is a substitute for the seeds' evolved germination method, which is to be eaten first, not digested, and then out the other side along with a glob of fertilizer.

Ever seen old Bear or Raccoon poop sprouting with lots of seedlings? That's the natural method...
