Dog pix and habits

Our last rescue is Sasha, she was a street dog too that wandered into our yard, my husband took one look at that freckled face and melted. She is high energy, and will play w/ anyone willing, or not.


She was always very gentle playing w/ the kittens, no matter how much their sharp little claws got her she never retaliated.


This looks mean, but it isn't they are having a blast, they played and played until Dude (chocolate lab) found his forever home.

Dude was another rescue off the street. But my cousin in CT saw the pics I posted of him and at the time her family was looking for a dog, they fell in love through my pics and payed to have him flown to CT from OK. He is loved and adored and HUGE now.

@Kassaundra , looks like your fur-babies have a very joyful life in your care. How lucky they are to have you. Such cute pics!

This is Dana (RIP) getting a kiss from Ava. She was my first dog; so well-behaved and such a pretty mix for a mutt (half chow and who knows what else). We miss her so much!



And this is Sierra, better known as Boogie...the nickname just kinda stuck. She's my big baby. She believes she is a lap dog, inhabiting a chihuahua body in her own mind. She's the most loyal and steadfast dog I've ever had. She hangs on my every word and just wants to be with her people; and if she can't have her people, a warm sunbeam will do. She's 12 now, which is really old for a pit, but in pretty good shape, still loves to play...just a little arthritis in one hip. I changed her dog food to a lamb and brown rice formula and noticed quick improvements to her coat, weight and condition once I got her off of that corn based stuff. She used to have skin allergies really bad before that. She had a large, fast-growing hemangioma sarcoma (bad skin cancer) removed 2 years ago, but is doing really well in spite of it. Either they got it all or it hasn't metastasized, because she's still hanging in there.

Usually they both smash forward, but apparently he'd been awake for a little while before noodling out from under the covers.


When fully alert they stand bolt upright.


Most days he is somewhere in between with one ear completely up and the other half down. We just love it!

Polly is our Australian Shepherd, got her from an elderly woman in a neighboring town. Polly was adopted from Pet Smart, her last day before being put down. The elderly woman sent her daughter to get her a small lap dog, came home with a high energy dog instead. She kept Polly for 2 years and then gave her away. I walked into a gas station where her daughter worked and she was making a free dog poster. I put my finger on Polly's picture and said, that's my dog. She is so sweet, pretty, barks at doorbells, hates Paris the Great Pyrenees in the backyard and can no longer go back there. (Paris hates her too) Since my Mom moved in with us after her stroke, Polly figures it is her Grandma's job to pet her--ALL the time!



When Mom fell and fractured her back, when she was sent to the nursing home for a few weeks of rehab--she wanted her Polly!



Our grand daughter got a Doc McStuffins doctor kit last Christmas and Polly was her patient! She checked Polly's blood pressure.

And she gave Polly her shots!

But I am her person. I belong to Polly. She loves to lay on me and gaze at me adoringly.

Amazing what dogs do for people. & people for dogs. On last days for my MIL, all she wanted was her dog. Kids/dogs are natural allies.

How sweet... I would want my dog with me too. They are such a comfort. They give the perfect support. No talking, no judging, just love and cuddles.
