Fingerling potatoes for supper, anyone? I will have to check my records for the variety -- it's the first year I've tried these -- but from the 16 tiny eyes I planted, this isn't half bad.

In fact it isn't even half of the plants. It was late, I didn't want to spray myself, but the mosquitoes knew it was suppertime. I gave in and retreated for the evening.

Yes, you do see an egg in the photo -- put there for size comparison. These are generally bigger than the last fingerling variety I grew. A nicer shape as well. The past ones tended to be bent, with deep pockets that made them harder to clean.

That lone spud at the top of the photo shows the approx. size of what was planted.

I am so set in my potato ways. I am going to have to try some of these fun varieties next year. Ava says the purple potatoes are cool, but she would not eat the purple french fries. o_O

Maybe those are French Fingerlings, @Smart Red . This must be "early season" for you and the fingerlings seem to all be lates, except for that one.

I've only grown a couple of fingerlings (despite being digitS').

Funny how DW doesn't want to see beet juice on her plate but really likes blue potatoes. I'm the one who resists. I resisted yellow potatoes when they became common ... Some potatoes are especially bright white. I like those.

 Steve

How do you potato gurus clean the potatoes after digging? And sweet potatoes, too? Is it OK to wash with a lot of pressure, then dry in the shade?
